The CTD Nonconsensus Repeat, Tyr Ser Pro Thr Ser Pro Ser, is heavily modified by phosphorylation, glycosylation and proline isomerization. The CTD acts as a tether to bring into close proximity the machinery necessary to synthesize and process Pol II transcripts.
